Lodge history In 1955 a small group of sojourning Masons began meeting in San Manuel, Arizona which resulted in the forming of a Square & Compass Club. These meetings were held in various members’ homes, and as time went on, the membership increased to such an extent that new quarters had to be found to hold meetings. Brother Roman Noseck, being a member of the Shrine, knew the right people, and they began to hold meetings at Comm-Beau-Haven, which actually was an abandoned CCC Camp that the Tucson Shrine had acquired for use as a summer retreat for elderly Shriners of Tucson.
By December of 1955, the membership of the Square & Compass Club had increased to 26 members and a decision was made to petition the M.W. Grand Lodge of the State of Arizona for a Dispensation to form a new Masonic Lodge in Arizona.
On December 31, 1955 M.W. Grand Master Carey B. Wilson, the M.W. Grand Master of Free & Accepted Masons in Arizona, and Robert Henderson for Grand Secretary J. A. Ivey granted a Dispensation. A meeting of the Grand Lodge was called for the purpose of installing the Officers of Temple Lodge No. 51 U.D. Thereby Temple Lodge No. 51 was unofficially chartered on December 31, 1955 A.D.
